Kaye Byrnes Storytelling for Summer 2012

Kaye Byrnes Storytelling has toured libraries throughout Florida, taking part in the statewide summer reading program since 1997.   This summer, Kaye will delight your young patrons with stories that nurture a love for reading, sharing stories and characters that can be found on your shelves and taken home. Dream Big, Read offers endless possibilities for stories that engage, educate and entertain.

Don't delay as my summer calendar will fill quickly with libraries and camps. Super System Discounts are available for multiple programs within the same area, so let's coordinate amongst your branches, save everyone some money and share stories with children throughout the county.   You can find me on the web at www.kayebyrnes.com or contact me at kaye@kayebyrnes.com

Look forward to hearing from you ... in the meantime, happy holidays and may 2012 bring better times to our public libraries!  Many thanks to all of you who dedicate yourselves to what you do in spite of such challenging circumstances.

STORYCASTS

Sarasota County Libraries has launched Storycasts!

The CSLP manual for 2012 is here!

Here's a photo of how I prepare CSLP manuals before personally delivering one to each of our 15 public libraries.  The Document Services Dept. here in Lake County Govt. has gently used empty notebook binders for employees to use.  I unwrap each manual and place it into a binder, place the dividers in to mark chapters and even use the cardboard which comes in the package to help divide different manuals.  This year I'lll be asking each manual recipient to sign a form for me indicating they've received the manual and telling me which sections of the manual their library will be using.  I'm doing this because 1) these manuals cost the State Library precious funds, 2) they're chock full of good ideas which can be used all year round (starting now, even), and 3) I want to remove as many barriers as possible to a librarian actually opening up the manual and referring to it for programming help.

Dreamin’ Green with Mrs. Kate - 2012 Program

Mrs. Kate’s puppet, Timothy the Turtle has been sleeping in his shell, dreaming green dreams. Awakened by the children, he looks around and becomes alarmed at the litterbug mess on the floor! Who will help him clean it up? Timothy chooses audience members to help him “clean up the environment,” introducing the eco-songs in Mrs. Kate’s program. From the Okefenokee Swamp to the Florida scrub, the children will learn about the birds, animals and natural habitats of the Sunshine State. Original and interactive, Mrs. Kate’s unique style delights both kids and parents. One hour of family-friendly, educational fun, suitable for all ages.
