The State Library and Archives of Florida is presenting its annual FLYP workshop with program ideas for summer 2010.

Youth services staff who are involved in planning and presenting summer library programs in Florida's public libraries, as well as media specialists, are invited to attend this free, all-day workshop.

The workshop will focus on children’s (ages 5-11) programming in the morning and tween/teen’s (ages 12-18) programming in the afternoon. Instructors will demonstrate six complete programs during each session and the attendees will participate in singing, dancing, games, and crafts. Dress casually to participate in activities.

WORKSHOP ON NEW BOOKS FOR TEENS

The lively all-day workshop covers recently published books for teens plus related activities, promotion ideas, and web/print resources.  My audiences usually include librarians and English teachers, who give the day excellent evaluations, which I'd be happy to share with anyone who is interested.

I've been giving the workshop, updated each year, for the past seven years.  I'm a former school and public librarian, an author of guides to children's books, previously a Newbery Award chairperson, and a current book reviewer.
