2013 FLYP Summer Show: Katie Adams’ Pirate Tales

Katie Adams presents Pirate Tales! with storytelling, puppets and participative fun.

The coasts of Florida were once crawling with pirates. In colorful pirate garb Katie brings these stories to life with a treasure chest full of props and costumes, a parrot puppet, and audience participation. Stories include The Pirate’s Three Wishes, Short Tales of Florida Pirates and more! Audiences will discover what treasure lies at the spot marked X, and be inspired to dig into books about pirates. 45 minutes.

Kaye Byrnes Storytelling for Summer 2012

Kaye Byrnes Storytelling has toured libraries throughout Florida, taking part in the statewide summer reading program since 1997.   This summer, Kaye will delight your young patrons with stories that nurture a love for reading, sharing stories and characters that can be found on your shelves and taken home. Dream Big, Read offers endless possibilities for stories that engage, educate and entertain.

Don't delay as my summer calendar will fill quickly with libraries and camps. Kwabena Dinizulu: Aesop 2 Hip Hop

Kwabena uses fables, folk tales, poetry, proverbs, historical, ancestral and personal
stories to weave a presentation that addresses subjects critical to character development, cultural diversity, and scholastic objectives covering the curriculums of history, social studies and language arts. Audiences will be mesmerized through the ancient art of storytelling.

Presentations are 40-50 minutes in length and can be adapted to large assemblies as well as smaller work groups.

There Will Always Be Storytellers Online Class

Hone your storytelling skills with WebJunction Florida’s new course, There Will Always Be Storytellers. In this course, master storyteller Nancy Tolson will:

  • Help you identify your storytelling style.
  • Help you select and shape stories that fit you and the setting.
  • Teach you to deliver a narrative in a way that will captivate your audience.
  • Share some of her favorite stories with you to inspire and spark your own creativity.

This course is intended for anyone who would like to increase their ability to tell captivating, enlightening and inspiring stories to audiences of all ages.
